44-year-old Antiguan and her partner killed in Puerto Rico
A 44-year-old Antiguan was mercilessly gunned down in an ambush which took place in Puerto Rico. The woman was with her suspected partner when both of them were killed.

The tragic incident which took place last week occurred in front of the River Valley Park development in Canóvanas.

The victim has been identified as Alexandra Daniel Derlyn, while her partner’s identity has not been found yet.

Derlyn used to travel regularly to Puerto Rico for shopping, and her recent trip turned out to be the last trip for her. According to the reports, the couple were travelling in their 2013 Kia Sportage when their car lost control amid the barrage of gunfire in Puerto Rico, resulting in the car overturning.

According to the officials, the investigators have recovered more than a hundred bullet casings from both pistols and rifles, which showed that the attack was very brutal.

In addition to this, the investigation also found other concerning evidence at the scene. The investigation took a significant turn when firearms, counterfeit documents, and large sums of money were discovered in suitcases aboard the vehicle.

It is also believed that the motive behind the double murder is somewhat related to the things found in the victim's vehicle.

These findings are now raising suspicions of the victim’s involvement in criminal activities or potential ties to drug suppliers. The male victim is also said to be of Venezuelan origin, and he was under the scrutiny of federal agents for reported connections to international drug trafficking.

The case is being diligently pursued by the authorities in Puerto Rico and they are attempting to link the connection of the Antiguan's partner.

The tragic double murder of Alexandra Daniel Derlyn and her companion has sent shockwaves through the community in Antigua and Barbuda, prompting a thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice and provide closure to the grieving families.
