International Airport: "Government would soon disburse payments to the landowners" says PM Skerrit

Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit made an announcement regarding the construction of the international airport, and he stated that government would disburse payments to some of the landowners who have concluded negotiations with the government's three-member negotiation team.
The small Caribbean island nation is awaiting an international airport for an extremely long period. Construction an international airport was also among the promises of Dominica Labour Party in their 2019 election manifesto.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Skerrit stated that the Chinese government would be assisting in the funding of the international airport and their team will arrive in February to finalise the technical requirements.
Talking about the land accusations from landowners, PM stated that, "All the lands were surveyed and checked after what we have started our negotiations with landowners and in coming few weeks we will start payments to landowners who have concluded with government negotiations."
PM Skerrit also stated that negotiations are currently undergoing with 39 different landowners, and soon after that, the geotechnical team will commence their work.
Moreover, Dr Skerrit added that international airport committee would submit its report to the cabinet on Tuesday for approval.
The leader also expressed gratitude to the People's Republic of China for their financial assistance to construct the international gateway.
