Thea Lafond to represent Dominica at World Athletics Indoor Championship Glasgow
The Championship will be held in Glasgow, Scotland and the event is set to take place from March 1 to 3. Lafond will be competing in the indoor Women’s Triple Jump which is an event that showcases the best triple jumpers from across the world.

Thea Lafond Gadson is all set to represent Dominica at the prestigious World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024 in Glasgow. She is a Dominican record holder in the triple jump, a two-time Olympian, a two-time World Championships finalist and a two-time Commonwealth Games medallist.
The Championship will be held in Glasgow, Scotland and the event is set to take place from March 1 to 3. Lafond will be competing in the indoor Women’s Triple Jump which is an event that showcases the best triple jumpers from across the world.
Recently, she secured Dominica's first medal of the Santiago 2023 Pan-American Games with a bronze in the female triple jump. Thea jumped a distance of 14.25 to secure 3rd place.
In September 2023, she broke the Triple Jump National record, with a distance of 14.90M at the 2023 World Athletics Championship and became Dominica’s first 2024 qualified athlete for Paris 2024 Olympics. The Dominica athlete qualified to compete in the event with a huge leap of 14.90m during last year’s World Athletics Outdoor Championships which took place Budapest, Hungary. At present, she is ranked second on the international rankings with a jump of 14.60m. According to Lafond Gadson, she looks forward to become the nation’s second World Athletics Championship Medallist and improve on her 4th place position during the last edition of the World Athletics Indoor Championships which was held two years earlier in Belgrade, Serbia. It is to be noted that Dominica secured its first and only World Athletics Championship medal back in 1995 when Jerome Romain jumped a whopping 17.59m to get bronze in the category of Men’s Triple Jump event at Göteborg, Sweden. According to the information, Thea Lafond will be competing on Sunday, March 3 at 6:18 am (local time) among 15 other competitors. She will be coached and managed by World Athletics certified/ senior coach Aaron Gadson throughout the Championships.Lafond along with her coach departed from Dominica for Glasgow on Sunday, February 25 and will run through a practice routine before the event.
