St Kitts-Nevis: 'Bayticol is in stock' informs Agriculture director

Director in the Department of Agriculture, Melvin James, said that Bayticol, which is an acaricide, used to control ticks and lice in ruminant animals such as sheep, goats, cattle and horses, has now been restocked.
He said that there had been some difficulty in sourcing Bayticol as the regular supplier has been unable to deliver. Although the situation remains the same, Mr. James said “The Department of Agriculture has been doing its very utmost, and we can now report that we have been able to bring an emergency shipment out of France.”
The Director of Agriculture explained that the product is rare and because of this, it comes with an increased price tag. He said that the insecticide cost the department a considerable amount to be able to fly it in from France and as such would incur an increased price.
However, even in the face of this, Mr. James explained that, “We understand the difficulties and the trauma that our farmers have been enduring and so we are going to subsidize it to the best of our ability, and it will be on sale at 150 dollars.”
He emphasized that only farmers with a farmers ID will be able to purchase this product at the 150 dollar price point and that those without would have to purchase it for 200 dollars.
He thanked the farmers for their patience in this matter, saying that “we want to identify with them with the losses that they’ve had, and we do hope that going forward, we would be able to arrest this kind of problem.
Bayticol is a ready to use pour-on solution used for the treatment and control of biting lice, sucking lice, ticks and mange in cattle.
