The New National Party in Grenada has revealed its latest caretakers as the government looks towards an upcoming election.
A meeting earlier this week led to the decisions, which cover St George’s North East, St Andrew’s South East, St Andrew’s South West, St Johns and Carriacou.
Among those chosen is Kindra Mathurine-Stewart, a 34-year-old lawyer.
She has been chosen as caretaker for Carriacou, with veteran MP – and deputy party leader – Elvin Nimrod retiring.
Quoted by the Grenada Chronicle, Maturine-Stewart said: “I am humbled, and it is a great honour to be given the opportunity to help lead the work of the party in Carriacou and Petite Martinique.” [caption id="attachment_2905" align="aligncenter" width="500"]
“We have a great foundation in Carriacou and Petite Martinique. There is a vibrant party structure and widespread support in the community.
“People there understand that NNP is the only real choice to continue to build on our gains.”
PM's constituency meeting
“While I am selected to lead the work, it is not just about me, but the team we have put together to go forward,” Mathurine-Stewart added.
The selection came days after Prime Minister Keith Mitchell met with party’s constituency group and supporters in Carriacou.
Tobias Clement, Delma Thomas, Yolande Bain-Horsford and Alvin Dabreo are all set to defend their seats, the latest announcement said.
Pamela Moses, Gregory Bowen, Nickolas Steele, Peter David and Emmalin Pierre had already been chosen as caretakers for the next election.
