He stated that fewer people are travelling because thousands are unemployed, and many schools maintain a rotation system due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a financial crisis of the minibus drivers and owners.
Parliament Representative Kenny D. Anthony stated that he conversed with minibus drivers in Vieux-Fort last week, and they complained of a lack of consultation and support from government officials. He said the minibus drivers wish to have an opportunity to bring their plight to the decision-makers so that adjustments can be made if necessary."Our minibus drivers believe they are not being heard, as an opposition parliamentarian, the most I can do is speak and advocate on their behalf and help them offset operation costs where possible," stated St Lucia Labour Party's Kenny D. Anthony.

He stated that due to pandemic, the minibuses are allowed to carry fewer passengers to minimize the spread of the virus along with measures like sanitation.
Parliamentarian from Vieux-Fort South stated that he did not hesitate when Route 4C Minibus Association requested for donation to further offset the expenses of dispensers and hand sanitiser.
"It was my pleasure to make a donation to these bus drivers who service various routes in Vieux-Fort South. I hope it goes a long way in helping curb the spread of the virus, and I hope the authorities will reflect on the plight of this important sector of our society," stated Kenny D. Anthony.
Anthony stated that he intends to use the opportunity in the closing days of parliament to remind the government that the small businesses and locals need help.
"We must review our policies to ensure that they are effective and to ensure that one sector is not carrying an unfair burden as we navigate these difficult times," added Anthony.
