St Kitts and Nevis is all set to select its National Carnival Queen. Many beautiful ladies from the twin-island country are already selected to be in the race.
One such contestant is Nekirah Nicholls, who was born and brought up in the close-knit neighbourhood of New Road. Neki, as she is affectionately called, has emerged as a self-proclaimed minimalist who voluntarily prefers living simply and finding beauty and joy in less.
Nekirah attained her primary education at the indomitable Tucker Clarke Primary School, where she distinguished herself as a brilliant student. She then attended the illustrious Washington Archibald High School and later advanced her studies at Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College.
Most notably, Nekirah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and a Master of Science degree in Financial Risk Management, both from Baruch College in New York. It is against this backdrop that she has developed unwavering advocacy for the implementation of financial literacy courses as part of the high school curriculum in St Kitts and Nevis.
Nekirah is well-known throughout the Federation as a dancer and choreographer who honed her skills at the Children's Dance Theatre and the CFBC Dance Ensemble. She is presently a member of the Creative Sole Dance Company. Dance provides her with an avenue to creatively tell her life stories through artistic expression.
Nekirah believes in gratitude and constantly practises it as she manoeuvres through life. With this in mind, she remains grounded by the simple mantra "Gratitude Is A Must," a line from "Toast", the infectious single by Reggae artiste Koffee.
