Coca-Cola Foundation give donation to St Lucia Red Cross

The Coca-Cola Foundation, with Windward and Leeward Brewery Limited and Du Boulay’s Bottling Company Limited, donated to the Saint Lucia Red Cross on July 28, 2020, as part of their mission to help and support governments, communities and economies across the region to fight COVID-19.
The donation contained bleach, gloves, N95 masks and disinfectants, all of which will be allocated to institutions such as the Ministry of Health.
The Red Cross also obtained some funds which went towards preparing food for 320 farmers for the period of one month.
According to the Managing Director of WLBL DBC, Thibault Mesqui, the work of the Red Cross must not go unnoticed.
The Managing Director stated that these donations will go towards purchasing and distributing essential protective kits to front liners, institutions and food packages to vulnerable families.
According to the President, Saint Lucia Red Cross, Hubert Pierre, the donation is extremely important to help the people of Saint Lucia combat the virus.
He also added that all these defences and measures that we have here by way of masks, gloves etc, these are there for the purpose of trying to enable St Lucians to keep safe.
While concluding he said, “I got a rude awakening I forgot my mask, I stepped into a shop they told me $7.50 for one and I just laughed because we had given away thousands already for nothing and these are the type of things you wonder, how many Saint Lucians after things are so hard can buy a mask for $7.50? We are trying to ensure that we have sufficient stock so that we can distribute all around the island.”
