St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party recently issued a statement regarding the distribution of care packages among the people. As per the announcement, the party will distribute five-thousand care packages consisting of food and other essential items to vulnerable in the country.
The party has already made distributions in its first phase where care packages and food baskets were distributed in various constituents of St Kitts by the Next-Gen SKN team members including former Prime Minister Dr Denzil L. Douglas himself.
As per the recent statement, single mothers, sick individuals and elderly will be benefitted in the second phase of the care package distribution.
“These employees, many of whom are single mothers and young people with predisposing chronic illnesses have been home for several weeks without government promised income support and have been subjected to very limited shopping opportunities, having to stand in long lines for several hours while under 24-hour daily curfew since the State of Emergency was declared by the Governor-General and announced by the Prime Minister for several weeks now,” said a statement issued by Labour Party.
Leader of SKN Labour Party and former Prime Minister, Dr Denzil Douglas said that families of employees in the hospitality and manufacturing sectors in SKN who were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic are very grateful to receive care packages delivered by him and other candidates of Next-Gen SKN team under the auspices of the Next-Gen SKN Cares Initiative, launched last Friday 3rd April.
As per the party officials, the idea of making distributions of care packages is to reduce the burden from the shoulders of the most vulnerable as they are more prone to the disease than others. The party claims that people are not receiving any support from the government, and hundreds of employees laid off from the workplaces require assistance to feed the families.
All the care packages include essential food items and other necessities that are being distributed free of any charges under the Next-Gen SKN Cares initiative of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party
