PM Timothy Harris says he talked to Late Amory 32-hours before he passed away, share memories
Nevis Island Assembly hosted a special sitting in honour of the former Premier of Nevis, the late Ambassador Vance Amory. Parliamentarians from St Kitts also journeyed to Nevis to participate in Tuesday's event in a show of respect for the late Ambassador Amory. The sitting was attended by Prime Minister Timothy Harris, Deputy Prime Minister Shawn Richards, Former PM Denzil Douglas and Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley, among other ministers and dignitaries. Prime Minister Harris revealed that he talked to Vance Amory 32 hours before he passed away. He said they had a conversation about the people of St Kitts and Nevis.  PM Harris said Amory talked about the Team Unity government's focus to continue on the path of delivering on national development imperatives and on the need to continue with the delivery of the Prosperity Agenda and the Stronger, Safer Future for the people of this Country.   "Not once did I hear him complain about his condition during the entire conversation. He was ready to be received by his maker. It was well with his soul. Therefore, he faced death with calmness and serenity". He stated he also had the pleasure of spending a bit of time with Ambassador Amory on Thursday, March 17, 2022, the day he departed for England to seek medical care.  "In spite of his painful condition, he maintained grace and dignity as we spoke. We spoke of national interests and priorities. Not personal matters. Why? Because this was the type of person, Vance Amory was. He was never consumed with himself or his ego. He was a genuine individual," said the Prime Minister.  During the address, Prime Minister Timothy Harris, while speaking about the Late Ambassador and former Premier Vance Amory, stated that he had a love for learning new things. Furthermore, while referring to Vance Amory, PM Timothy Harris stated that he considered him (Amory) his friend, confidante, advisor and springboard for national development ideas and programmes for which the people of the Federation would always be beneficiaries. He said Vance Amory's parliamentary life was people-centric.
