CCM, PAM writes letter to governor general, showing no confidence for Timothy Harris
Basseterre: Adding fuel to the ongoing political turmoil, 6 of 9 Member Parliaments of St Kitts and Nevis have decided to make Shawn Richards serve as the new Prime Minister. They wrote to Governor-General Sir SW Tapley Seaton via letter and expressed no confidence in current PM Dr Timothy Harris.  "We informed Governor-General that we no longer support nor do we have any confidence in Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris. The 6 MPs also informed the Governor-General that they entrust their full trust and confidence in Shawn K Richards to serve as Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis," said Leader of People's Action Movement, Shawn Richards. They wrote that PM Harris has failed to engage his team members in the important discussion of the government, and he has reneged on his pledges on agreements. The six MPs included three leaders of PAM, Shawn K Richards, Lindsey Grant, Jonel Powell and three leaders of Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM), Mark Brantley, Eric Evelyn and Alexis Jeffers.  Earlier, CCM and PAM had given the deadline to address the concerns of Team Unity Partners to Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris on 20 April 2022.  "Unfortunately, despite the patriotic efforts of leaders of CCM and PAM to restore stability and continuity in the Team Unity government, the Prime Minister continued to refuse to agree to seriously discuss and resolve the issues of contention," Shawn Richards added.  He said that all efforts by CCM and PAM to bring stability and transparency in St Kitts and Nevis had failed because of "one-man, Dr Timothy Harris, who has presided over a systematic campaign undermining his own ministers of government and undermining the operations of ministries overseen by the cabinet members, who particularly happen to represent the CCM and PAM." "Every time we tried offering an open hand of partnership, Dr Harris extended a closed fist of deception, delay and mistrust. Therefore we have left with no alternative but to take decisive actions," Richards asserted.  Shawn Richards also expressed that they are ready for elections as PM might be seeking legal remedies to remain in position, and there are chances that St Kitts and Nevis might see a general election in 21 days.
