OAS team takes stock of general elections preparations in Grenada
The OAS team will keenly observe the electoral organization, technology, registries, finance as well as the participation of women.

Ahead of the snap general elections in the country, the Prime Minister of Grenada, Keith Mitchell, met with the members of the OAS election observer mission. Led by Rosina Wiltshire, the team will monitor the elections, which are going to be held tomorrow, June 23.
The meeting witnessed a discussion on the preparations for the elections in Grenada. The OAS team will keenly observe the electoral organization, technology, registries, finance as well as the participation of women. Prime Minister Mitchell invited the team, stating that it is vital for the regional and international community to witness the electoral process first-zhand."I am genuinely grateful that both CARICOM and the OAS accepted the invitation to observe the general elections. The government has consistently invited regional and international observers to monitor the electoral process. We are committed to the principles of good governance, particularly transparency and accountability and as such", underscored Prime Minister Mitchell.
The announcement was made by the Grenadian Prime Minister in the month of May. The New National Party of PM Mitchell wrapped up the preparations and its' political rallies on June 21, 2022, in the hope of winning these snap general elections.A total of 41 candidates (including the prime minister) filed nominations to contest the elections. PM Mitchell will contest elections from the St George Northwest constituency against Gayton Jonathan La Crette of NDC (National Democratic Congress).
Candidates of the New National Party (NNP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Grenada Renaissance Party (GRP), Independent Liberty Party (ILP), and Grenada United Labour Party (GULP) are running in the race for elections. Meanwhile, this time, there will be only one independent candidate - Winston Earl Frederick, who will contest elections from the constituency of St Patrick West.
National Democratic Congress (NDC) launched its 52-page long manifesto under the title "Transforming Grenada" on Monday, and the ruling party (NNP) released its manifesto on Tuesday.Latest
