St Lucia on Wednesday recorded 25 new cases of COVID-19 and virus-related death have also been recorded, the ministry of health and wellness confirmed.

Ministry of Health and Wellness stated that the Ezra Long Laboratory took 160 samples on April 19 and April 20 after some individuals were spotted at the respiratory clinic following flu-like symptoms.

Following the government's COVID-19 testing protocol, these individuals were located in-home quarantine by healthcare practitioners while anticipating the return of their test outcomes. "Arrangements have since been forced to place these recently diagnosed individuals in quarantine. The contact tracing for these new cases is initiated." stated the ministry of health and wellness.

Besides this, the ministry of health and wellness also confirmed the recovery of 5 individuals taking the total number of actual cases in the nation to date to 97.

At now, all of the active cases are stable and do not need critical care. The new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in the country to date to 4444.

Furthermore, one person has been reported to die because of coronavirus; the deceased is a 36-year-old female from the Vieux-Fort district with comorbidities.

A total of 70 people have lost their death to coronavirus in St Lucia, and the government have declared additional coronavirus limitations to curb the spread.
