Jamaica: The UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific and cultural organization) Caribbean is on mission to leverage data to empower the teaching workforce in Jamaica. The UNESCO Caribbean through various programmes is encouraging empowerment. Through the Joint SDG Programme on Digital Transformation in partnership with UNICEF, World Food Programme and FAO, the UNESCO Caribbean is working to enhance data governance. The organization as well working for improving the data warehouse and enhancing teacher management through integrated digital solutions. All such efforts and the actions taken forward by the UNESCO will lead towards certain of the positive outcomes that include-
  • Improved decision-making
  • Increased transparency
  • Greater empowerment of teachers, parents, and communities
The Joint SDG Programme will be a three year programme that will support the modernization and integration of Jamaica’s Education Management Information System (EMIS). The strengthened Teacher Management & Engagement through better and timely data. Considerably, the UNESCO office for the Caribbean strives to enhance data governance and interoperability of digital systems within the Ministry of Education and Youth Jamaica. It is working towards boosting its ability to utilize real-time data for policy-making and monitoring.  It is taking the initiatives towards improving teacher management, engagement, and well-being. There are certain strategic objectives which are integral to the Joint SDG Fund Project on Digital Transformation. These strategic objectives are as follows-
  • Strengthened EMIS governance and institutional framework 
  • Established Statistical Data Warehouse 
  • Improved and Integrated Human Resource Digital Solutions and Tools
Significantly, these three strategies would contribute a lot towards shaping the country’s system. The strengthened Education Management Information System would lead the country towards overall development, which further would direct towards building the country's name in the world. Better education system in the nation would foster the development among the children who are considered as the nation builders. As well, it aims towards fostering teacher management which states that the programme will benefit the nation with multiple aspects.
