Assailants shot dead businessman couple in Belize
A businessman couple was brutally shot dead by assailants in Belize on Thursday. As per reports, the couple was leaving Sumathi Restaurant.

The deceased has been identified as fifty-year-old Anil Asnaney and his forty-four-year-old wife, Manisha Asnaney.
Local media reporters stated that the couple was leaving Sumathi Restaurant on Baymen Avenue just after eight o'clock. Upon entering their vehicle, they were approached by two men on bicycles. The assailants then fired as many as five shots in their direction, killing Anil Asnaney on the spot and injuring his wife, who was later rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).As per information, the victims were owners of a clothing store on Albert Street. According to the police, the motive does not seem to be robbery at this time; their investigations continue.
It is suspected that the assailants acted on some personal grudges and were known to the whereabouts.
Hundreds of people went to social media, showing concern about the rising gang violence in Belize; Roger Mahmud, "Ruthlessness raging all over our once beautiful jewel. Gone are the days when you could sleep with your front door open. Gone are the days when you and your neighbours share food. Gone are the days when you could walk freely around any time of the day,"
Another user named Carolyn Jemmott wrote, "I'm tired of all these killings and these RIP when will it stop Belize need a leader with a servant heart that will change laws, and tough on these criminals bring back capital punishment Belize just sad and too small for all these killings it's out of control I pray they catch these evil criminals."
Several others, including Ray Usher, described the act as
madness for a small society: "We demand high security within and without our nation now more than ever. This is a call to rise up people and makes Belize safe and secure,"
