No reason given for Pemberton's resignation; 2nd Boundaries Commission chairman in less than 1-year

Months before the next general elections in St Kitts and Nevis, the St Kitts and Nevis Boundaries Commission has a new chairman, the second in one year.

Governor General His Excellency Sir Tapley Seaton has announced the appointment of Mr Denzil Crooks, OBE with effect from October 31, 2019.

Mr Crooke replaces Mr Calvin Pemberton who had been appointed as Chairman with effect from November 15, 2018. Mr Pemberton submitted his resignation to the Governor General with effect from October 25, 2019. The Commission never met during Pemberton's appointment and no reason was given for Pemberton's sudden resignation.

The other Members of the Commission are Hon Vance Amory and the Hon Ian Patches Liburd who were appointed acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris and the Hon Patrice Nisbett and the Hon Konris Maynard, who were appointed in accordance with the advice of the Leader of the Opposition, the Rt Hon Dr Denzil L Douglas.

The appointment of Mr Crooke is in accordance with Section 49 (1)(a) of the Constitution of Saint Christopher and Nevis which authorises the appointment of a Chairman by the Governor General acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister after the Governor General has consulted with the Leader of the Opposition.
