Bahamas allows wedding receptions if attendees are fully-vaccinated

Prime Minister of Bahamas Hubert Minnis stated that the government now allows wedding reception in New Providence and Grand Bahama if all attendees are fully vaccinated.

Prime Minister of Bahamas Hubert Minnis stated that the government now allows wedding reception in New Providence and Grand Bahama if all attendees are fully vaccinated.

During a Prime Minister's regular update, PM Minnis stated that phase 2 of COVID-19 vaccine rollout throughout the Family Islands continues for first and second doses of the vaccine.

He also shared a curfew update across the Bahamas and shared the new timings. As per the recent information, the curfew timings are as follows: New Providence and Abaco (mainland) daily curfew 11 pm-5 am; Grand Bahama curfew 12 midnight-5am; Cat Island, North Andros and Central Andros, 10 pm-5 am. Curfew no longer in place for Berry Islands and South Andros.

PM Minnis Further stated that RT-PCR domestic travel testing requirement removed for Grand Bahama, Andros and Cat Island, but travel health visa $10 fee will be waived for vaccinated Bahamians and residents returning home from abroad, effective 1 July 2021.

Giving more relaxations on the COVID-19 restrictions, on new providence, funeral and memorial services are now permitted in a church or other indoor facility in accordance with health protocols and there is no vaccine requirement.

Number of people permitted to gather in groups in parks and beaches now at 15 on New Providence, Grand Bahama, mainland Abaco, Eleuthera, Harbour Island, and Great and Little Exuma. Private gatherings and other social events permitted if all attendees are vaccinated. Hosts responsible for verifying vaccination status. Performance groups and artists permitted to perform at approved activities if all performers are vaccinated.

"Aim is to fully re-open in several months if various conditions are met and advised by health officials." stated Prime Minister Hubert Minnis.

He also stated that the government have spent $274 Million so far in direct COVID-19 support to take care of Bahamians during the pandemic and distributed $4.2 million in concessions to residents Over-the-Hill, including business license fees and stamp and real property tax.

Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise-liner is to make major combined $350 million investment in Grand Bahama Shipyard. He said the expansion is projected to begin October 2021.
