President Irfaan Ali accepts Letters of Credence from UAE Ambassador

President of Guyana Dr Irfaan Ali on Tuesday accepted the Letters of Credence from Non-Resident Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Guyana, Saleh Ahmad Salem Alzaraim Alsuwaidi.
The President and the Ambassador exchanged pleasantries and spoke about bilateral collaborations between the two countries. The event took place at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive.
During the meeting on Tuesday, President Irfaan Ali and Ambassador Alsuwaidi discussed their take on climate-changed and promised to work towards reducing the increasing impacts of climate change on the atmosphere.[caption id="attachment_37075" align="aligncenter" width="100%"]
President Ali stated that Guyana is working towards transforming the overall economy while mitigating the impacts of climate change through the government's Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS).
During the discussions, he also added that the coming corporation of Guyana's Mission Abu Dhabi (UAE's Capital) is an attestation to the government's responsibility to give "practical meaning" to its relations with the Middle-Eastern country.Furthermore, President Irfaan Ali also took his time to acknowledge the UAE's efforts to support Guyana during the pandemic. UAE assisted by providing medical supplies and PPE kits to the country. Besides this, he also congratulated the Ambassador for Dubai Expo 2020 from October 2021 to March 2022.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Guyana have been sharing a longstanding relationship and bilateral ties with each other for several years.
