Guyana: A family in Guyana is facing charges after they beat an intruder who entered their home for theft. As per the family they were just defending themselves and had no other intentions. As per reports, the De Weever family of Pike Street, Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, was last night awakened twice by a man who invaded their yard. The first time, they were alerted by the neighbour's security motion sensor light. The man came into the yard and was at the front door when confronted by De Weever. According to the victim, he seemed lost, and they suspected nothing at the time. The man left but came back about an hour later, trying to break into the back door. He was again confronted when he attacked the owner with a piece of wood used to prise open the door. The owner dealt him several lashes, and he ran out of the yard. The family of 7 was traumatized, according to Kavita De Weever, mother of the home. She told the local media that the backdoor leads to her young children's bedroom. When De Weever went to make a report, he was made to sit on the bench while the suspect was in there with blood on his clothes. The suspect was accompanied by another man who told police he was of unsound mind. Following the statement by De Weever, he was charged with assault and placed on $20,000 bail, while the suspect was charged with damage to property. The homeowner who stopped a man from invading his home and protected his family now must appear in court on an assault charge. The family wants to know what kind of justice is this. They were forced to borrow the bail money and even came up short.
