A 59-year-old female motorcyclist killed in a road accident in Guyana
A 59-year-old female motorcyclist lost her life in a road accident that occurred in Georgetown, Guyana, on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Debra Salikram of lot 85 West Ruimveldt Estate Housing Scheme.
Police officials stated that as per eyewitnesses, the minibus was allegedly speeding south along the eastern side of the La Penitence Public Road. At the same time, the motorcyclist was moving north along the eastern side of the road and turned west into the way of the minibus.

The Police reached the scene, and a breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver of the minibus, and no trace of alcohol was found in his system. The bus driver, 29-year-old Dencel Abrams He is in custody, assisting with the investigations.
People who had known the female motorcyclist recalled her as a person who always minded her own business. Hundreds of people expressed condolences to the victim's family on social media and demanded the government tighten traffic rules.

A social media user also alleged that the minibus drivers in Guyana take a lot of drugs, which is the major reason for rash driving.
"My condolences to the family but a lot of these bus drivers don't have to be drinking alot of them smoking ganja be high n driving the traffic police needs to address this situation," wrote Dinesh Bisraj.
