St Lucia reports 58 new COVID-19 cases

St Lucia: On Sunday, St Lucia's Ministry of Health and Wellness received confirmation from the Ezra Long Laboratory of 58 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the country.
It comes from a batch of 359 samples taken during the period August 3 to August 7. These samples were processed on 7 August. These people who have just been diagnosed have been seen at various respiratory clinics in the community where they have been evaluated and tested for COVID-19. In accordance with the national COVID-19 test protocol, they have each been quarantined by GPs while awaiting the return of their COVID-19 testing results. Since then, arrangements have been made to place these individuals in isolation. The contact search for these new cases is underway.The Ministry of Health has also received a confirmation of the recovery of 25 individuals bringing the total number of active cases in the country to 290. Currently, one of the active cases requires critical care in the respiratory hospital. The new COVID-19 cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in the country to 5837.
As of August 7, a total of 32,810 individuals had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 25,543 individuals had received the second dose.
On Monday, 9 August, the health team will administer the COVID-19 vaccine at the Vigie Sports Complex and the Soufriere Hospital site. People also have access to the COVID-19 vaccine at the various community wellness centers on the island and can call or walk in to make an appointment.Latest
