The Second Lady of Guyana Mignon Bowen Phillips visited the Maternity Ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on the first day of 2024. She even interacted with newborn mothers, as seven babies were delivered on the New Year. The Wife of Prime Minister Mark Phillips, Mignon Phillips, also congratulated the mothers and gave them good wishes.  She was also joined by the CEO of GPHC Hospital, Robbie Rambarran during the visit,, During her visit, Second Lady Mignon Phillips spread joy among the new mothers and gifted them with essential supplies for their newborns. She also expressed her excitement at contributing to the happiness of the mothers. "One of the greatest gifts or one of the best blessings, in fact, for a woman is becoming a mother. And so I'm excited that they have this responsibility to care for and nurture another human being. "You know, we need all the resources that we have to be part of the development of Guyana, and so, it's such a good feeling to be a part of this small but significant activity," she noted. Further, she considered her visit an opportunity to meet and wish everyone all the best wishes for the new year. She also expressed her hope that all the new mothers' dreams in terms of their children's growth and development will come true.

Public's Opinion

Several community members on social media commended the second Lady, Bowen Philips, for her exceptional contribution to the people of the nation. Some other users also joined her in welcoming the newborns into the world and congratulated the new mothers.  "Congratulations! Welcome to the world, little angels," one user mentioned. While as per other users, earlier they had never heard her doing something about the community, and this was the first time they saw her contributing to the nation's women.  A user, Lisa Raymond, commented, "Never heard of her before. About time to make an entrance. Congratulations to all mothers." While another user, Oneita Cornelius, in a suspicious way, stated, "I wonder why the grass is green and why the wind is never seen. Who taught the birds to build a nest....? I wonder why?? Congratulations, moms!!".
