Saint Lucia: PM Pierre hosts special reception to honour World Champion Julien Alfred

Prime Minister Philip J Pierre extended his warm congratulations to the world-renowned Saint Lucian athlete Julien Alfred as she came back home after her amazing victory at the World Athletics Indoor Championships. Alfred won a gold medal at the event in the category of Women's 60m.
PM Pierre hosted a special reception in her honour at the Prime Minister's Official Residence and also welcomed her with a token of love.

Today, you gave our country an opportunity to celebrate with you, and we are grateful."
He further encouraged her to remain focused and continue to inspire the youth of Saint Lucia. Other officials of Sports Ministry also joined the Prime Minister in extending her a warm welcome.
The athlete received a heroic welcome as she came back home on Friday afternoon. The motive of her coming to the island was to her much anticipated Julien Alfred Foundation on Saturday morning.A huge crowd of people along with cultural festivities on display were on the ground as Alfred came back home. Sports Minister Kenson Casimir said that only a limited number of individuals that it just 1000 were allowed inside the Hewanorra International Airport to greet the sprinter.

Meanwhile, her Foundation will be supported by her generous sponsors Puma and First National Bank as the foundation aims to address critical needs with the youth of Saint Lucia, especially focusing on the provision necessary school supplies and athletic equipments.While talking about the launch of the Julien Alfred Foundation, she remarked that she just wanted to give back to the youth both in academics and sports and added, "I want to provide them with opportunities I wish I had at their age."
The World Champion was thrilled to be home and also to be an influence to so many, and she encouraged the youth to follow their dreams and never stop.Latest
