Saint Lucia PM Philip J Pierre to meet EP and EC officials in Brussels

Prime Minister of Saint Lucia Philip J Pierre is all set to travel to Brussels, Belgium, on an official trip from April 7 to 12, 2024. The trip aims to engage in discussions with the European Parliament and the European Commission regarding global migration matters.
According to the information, the discussions will revolve around the proposed changes to the Schengen Visa-Free Regime and how they may affect nations which have investor citizenship programmes, like Saint Lucia.The country is well known for its strong due diligence processes which are the foundation of its successful citizenship by investment programme.
The Prime Minister’s visit to Brussels, although planned in advance to the signing of the MOA - Memorandum of Agreement between other OECS nations with similar programmes, assumed assed importance, as PM Pierre will articulate Saint Lucia’s position on the MOA.
He will also explore further measures that can be taken by all nations to strengthen their CBI programmes.Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ernest Hilaire will act as the Prime Minister as well as the Minister for Finance, Economic Development, Youth Economy, and Minister for Justice and National Security in the absence of PM Philip J Pierre.
