Budget proceedings begin in Dominican Parliament (Live)
Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit presents budget of the island for the fiscal year 2019-2020.

Budget for the financial year 2019-2020 for Dominica is presented by the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit.
The budget session started with a parade by two platoons of police, one by fire and ambulance service and one by the official government band. After the parade ended, President Charles Savarin arrived in his vehicle to the house of Parliament. After the arrival of President presidential salute ceremony was done by the parade.
Before the session started, Prime minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit also greeted all the ministers present in the parliament.
While speaking to media Superintendent Irish told that budget 2019-2020 will be the biggest budget ever presented in the history of Dominica after independence, he told that the budget will be of One billion twenty million, hundred and sixty-four thousand, five hundred, forty-four thousand dollars.
As said by the Dominican Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit earlier, the budget will mainly focus on education and health care in the country. The budget which is claimed to be the biggest till now is said to be a budget for building up the new Dominica.
In his parliamentary address, PM Skerrit said two years ago when the island was hit by the devastating hurricane, hopes of people of the nation were shattered and the majority of business was shut due the same but government has taken necessary decisions for rebuilding the new Dominica.
Prime Minister also said, “ the government continues to give high priority to the education field, and we consider that education is the best way to empower citizens.”
In addition to that, he said, “ The government has taken many steps to provide skill and knowledge to the public to make them empowered in various fields. ”
He also said that to improve health care systems in the country, the government is taking help of china and currently, 5 Chinese medical supervisors are providing health facilities related to various medical conditions.
