Dominican Republic-born man arrested at Boston airport
Arrest warrant for sexual assault prevents 48-year-old flying
A man from the the Dominican Republic was arrested last weekend as he tried to board a plane at Boston Logan International Airport.
Fancisco Jose Liria, who is 48 and holds a US green card, was flying back to his Caribbean home nation when agents from Customs and Border Protecion (CBP) swooped.
Liria was the subject of an active arrest warrant for sexual assault put out by the sheriff's office in Fauquier County, Virginia.
William A. Ferrara, CBP Boston director of field operations, said: “CBP officers routinely encounter and stop dangerous fugitives entering and attempting to depart the United States.
“Working with our law enforcement partners, we are able to intercept these wanted individuals, and ensure they face justice in their respective jurisdictions.”
He was taken into custody as he attempted to board flight to Santo Domingo and will be sent back to Virginia to face the charges.
