Dominica: Police investigation after body found in river
Victim identified as Mahaut resident
Police in Dominica have started an investigation into the death of a 67-year-old man.
Edmund David Bazil, a resident of Mahout, went missing on Sunday afternoon while washing a vehicle with a friend beside the Macoucherie River.
According to police, he disappeared around 4.30pm before his body was found the following day.
“A search was carried out and eventually a report was made to the police,” said Pelham Jno Baptiste, press office for the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force.
“The body was Edmund David Bazil was fished out of the Macoucherie River about 7.30am on Monday the 11th December and was officially pronounced dead by a medical doctor.”
An investigation into the circumstances of Bazil’s death is underway, he added, and a coroner’s inquest will begin soon.
