Former Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr. Denzil L. Douglas shared an emotional message on the death of Hollywood actress Cicely Tyson who died on Thursday.

Former Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr. Denzil L. Douglas shared an emotional message on the death of Hollywood actress Cicely Tyson who died on Thursday.
Dr. Denzil L. Douglas shared an old photograph with Cicely Tyson and stated that the world has lost a gifted icon at 96 years.
The Former St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister referred to Cicely as a strong, dignified personality who never accepted roles that scorned black culture or devalued her self-worth, or stained her feminine struggle.
"For 40 years, Ms. Tyson’s career soared. Her talents-craft in film, dramatic art, television and theatre mesmerized international audiences. " further wrote Dr. Denzil Douglas.
Furthermore, he stated that during his term as the Prime Minister of St Kitts & Nevis, he had the honor of extending an invitation to her as his special guest at the annual Prime Minister Grand New Year’s Gala.
"Cicely spoke with wit and wisdom, clarity and intelligence. We were all so fixated and impressed with her presentation, that she received, with grace, a prolonged standing ovation," added Dr. Douglas.
The former Prime Minister Against stated that Tyson always expressed a fierce African American consciousness mixed with refined Caribbean values in her roles.
"She did not lose sight of her proud St. Kitts and Nevis parental heritage, which laid the foundation for her high standards," noted Dr. Denzil Douglas.
He stated that his life has been enriched, having known and shared memorable moments with Cicely Tyson. He added that her eminent shoes would remain empty, but her indomitable spirit and powerful legacy will ring through the ages.
Cicely Tyson, the pioneering Black actor who earned an Oscar nomination for her performance as the sharecropper’s wife in Sounder, won a Tony Award in 2013 at age 88 and impressed TV viewers’ hearts in The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, died Thursday at age 96.
Her family published Tyson's death through her manager Larry Thompson, who did not provide more details.
“With heavy heart, the family of Miss Cicely Tyson declares her peaceful passing this afternoon. At this time, please enable the family their privacy,” as per a statement circulated through Thompson.
