Cuban wrestler Mijiain Lopez becomes first man to win 4 Olympic gold medals in wrestling

The Cuban wrestler - Mijiain Lopez became the first man to win four Olympic gold medals in wrestling. Lopez defeated Iakobi Kajaia of Georgia by 5-0 in the Greco-Roman 130 kilogram finale.

Cuba: The Cuban wrestler - Mijiain Lopez became the first man to win four Olympic gold medals in wrestling. Lopez defeated Iakobi Kajaia of Georgia by 5-0 in the Greco-Roman 130 kilogram finale.

He has joined the Kaori Icho as the only wrestler who has bagged four Olympic gold medals by making this win.

It was Cuba's second gold medal of the night in Greco-Roman. Luis Orta Sanchez defeated - Japan's Kenichiro Fumita by 5-1 in the 60 kg final.

The Cuban wrestler is a five-time World Champion and has won the Pan American Games champion five times. Lopez is the younger brother of Michel López Núñez, a Cuban amateur boxer.

The Cuban wrestler has represented Cuba at 2004, 2008 & 2012 Summer Olympics in Athens, Beijing, and London.

Lopez has also remained the flag bearer of Cuba during the opening ceremonies in the years 2008 and 2012. In both competitions, the Cuban wrestler won the gold medal in the men's Greco-Roman 120 kg category.

At the Rio Games of 2016, López won a gold medal in the 130 kg category. He again won a bar of gold at the Tokyo Games and then became the only fifth athlete to win four golds in the same individual event.

Lopez was born on 20 August, in the year 1982. In total, the Cuban wrestler has won thirty-two gold medals so far while achieving four silver medals and one bronze medal.

The citizens of Cuba are joyful and immensely happy as Lopez brings one more gold medal for the nation.

Kajaia is a European bronze medallist who was born on 28 September 1993.

Iakobi Kajaia is a Georgian Greco-Roman wrestler. He played in the men's Greco-Roman 130 kg event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in which he was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Sergey Semenov.
