Cayon Primary students to receive EC$1000 in new bank accounts: PM Drew

The development was announced by the Prime Minister during a brief ceremony held during the Cayon Primary's general assembly on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew said that the government will open bank accounts for student of Cayon Primary School. He added that each account will also be credited EC$ 1000, including shares, during the next few months.

While speaking at a a brief ceremony held during the Cayon Primary's morning assembly, PM said that the government wants the youth to start building an account from an early age.

Drew.[/caption] While announcing the development, Terrance Drew outlined that the youth must learn how to save and invest from the time they are young.
"So that is the next thing that we are going to deliver for all of you. By the time you are 18 and you are ready to leave school you will have shares in a company, and you will have money in your bank account to invest in your future," added PM Terrance Drew.

Apart from this, he also donated several essential items to the school. The donated items included one Air Conditioner, six fans, one refrigerator, one laptop and two large coolers.

These items are anticipated to significantly enhance the learning environment and overall comfort of the school to some extent.

During the assembly, PM Drew disclosed that the school's principal, Javan Cannonier, reached out to him after their earlier discussion during his last visit.

During that meeting, the Prime Minister vowed to assist the school during times of need. While addressing the students and the faculty, Dr Drew said that the last time he visited Cayon Primary, he spoke with the head teacher, who expressed his concern over some things.

"And so, he reached out to see what I, as your representative for this area, would deliver for you," outlined Terrance Drew.

In addition to this, he also took the chance during the ceremony to mention several major initiatives being taken by his administration, which are aimed at positively affecting the lives of the children.

While addressing the students, PM Drew said that the government is delivering a number of things, which include a tablet, a refrigerator, some fans, coolers and other things.

The ongoing dedication of PM Drew to support and contribute to the schools within his constituency remains apparent and reflects his commitment towards the education sector of St Kitts and Nevis.
