Bahamas government announces new COVID test requirements for International & Domestic travellers

The Bahamas government has again amended the COVID-19 health protocols for international and domestic travel. These new requirements would be in effect for the travellers from 6 August 2021.

Bahamas: The Bahamas government has again amended the COVID-19 health protocols for international and domestic travel. These new requirements would be in effect for the travellers from 6 August 2021.  The information was provided in a press release statement via the official social media handle of the Bahamas government.  Requirements for the International travellers - The vaccinated International travellers would be required to obtain a negative Rapid Antigen Test or PCR COVID-19 test within five days prior to their arrival in the Bahamas; while all the unvaccinated travellers that are of 12 years and above would be required to obtain a negative RT-PCR test to be taken within five days prior to their arrival in the Bahamas island.  The Health Ministry further informed that all the children between the age group of two to eleven years who are travelling to the Bahamas would also be required to present a negative Rapid Antigen Test or PCR COVID-19 test within five days of their arrival.  While all the cruise passengers entering the Caribbean island would be subjected to follow all the COVID-19 health protocols and the testing requirements, which are being made compulsory by the cruise line and approved by the Competent authority.  Requirements for the Domestic travellers -  All the vaccinated travellers who are travelling within the Bahamas from  New Providence, Grand Bahama, Bimini, Exuma, Abaco, Harbour Island and North & South Eleuthera would be needed to present a negative Rapid Antigen Test or PCR COVID-19 test in the time duration of five days before their travel date.  While all the unvaccinated travellers who are travelling within the Bahamas (who are twelve years and older) from New Providence, Grand Bahama, Bimini, Exuma, Abaco, Harbour Island and North & South Eleuthera would be required to present a negative PCR test, which must have been conducted within five days from their travel.  Whereas the children between 2- 11 years, travelling from the islands mentioned above, would be required to have a negative Rapid Antigen Test or PCR COVID-19 test within five days if they are travelling within the Bahamas island.  The Health Ministry further informed that a domestic travel health visa would be provided to all the citizens of the Bahamas who are travelling within the island country.
