Asot Michael has returned to Antigua, just over one week since he was arrested in the UK.
The member of parliament is yet to make a statement since his return, and WIC News understands that there has been little to no contact with his political colleagues. The St Peter MP was arrest at Gatwick Airport on 23 October by the UK’s National Crime Agency.
It has emerged since then that the detention was related to allegations of bribery in the Caribbean by a British national.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne swiftly relieved him of his duties as minister for tourism, economic development, investment and energy.
The government’s chief of staff, Lionel Hurst told the Antigua Observer that Michael had arrived on the island two days ago, and had attended an independence event. WIC News has reached out to Asot Michael but he has not responded.Latest
