People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) stated the fishing industry is responsible for more than 7,00,000 tons of abandoned fishing gear in the ocean.
“Fishing kills more than just fish,” mentioned PETA
PETA shared one of the videos that featured a dead turtle in the ocean. And, added, “he shouldn’t have died like this.” With such a statement made, an organization made it to the public’s awareness that they can make a difference by choosing to leave fish and other ocean animals off the plate.
The reports state that every year 2% of deadly fishing gear is lost in the oceans. And such a loss of aquatic resources puts a threat towards the imbalance of the ecosystem that further would impact the entire habitat.

Significantly, the Caribbean region is one of the world’s most complex mosaics of marine and coastal habitats, comprising 10% of global coral reefs, 18% of seagrass beds, and 12% of mangrove forests. As well, it boasts 1400 species of fish.
With such significant features in the oceans of the Caribbean region, it is so evident that conservancy and preservance is of great significance. Protecting biodiversity is of great importance and caring for the oceans and environments.
The wider Caribbean region is responsible for much of the biodiversity because of its marine life. Caribbean biodiversity provides subsistence, fishing, water, materials, employment, coastal protection and the well-being to the populations.
Protecting and caring for the resources is the matter of safeguarding the very means of survival of the marine family. Considerably, marine life has a greater impact on the environment as the marine species provide a great deal in clearing the environment, leading towards making the air pure and clear to breathe in.
Subsequently, better survival can be fostered with saved marine life as it will foster safer and healthier being.
