Prime Minister of Belize John Briceno applauded the works in the Official Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Berger Field Project. He stated that sports develop children and young people in numerous ways.
He said sports keep children positively engaged, and it is discipline, team spirit building, strategy development. Sports is healthy lifestyle building and wellness."I recognize our star-studded team for the successful rehabilitation of the well-known Berger Field of Southside Belize City," said the Prime Minister.
Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner and Councillors were also pleased to participate in the Official Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Berger Field Project, the kick-off to a series of projects set to rehabilitate sporting facilities in Belize City.
The rehabilitation project is led by the Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations Anthony Mahler, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Belize Tourism Board. Key collaborators included Minister of Youth and Sports Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of State Gilroy Usher, the National Sports Council of Belize, and the Football Federation of Belize."It is our hope that the improvement of this facility along with others across the city will revitalize these communities and provide safe, inclusive, and sustainable spaces that are easily accessible for residents to practice different sporting activities," the Prime Minister added.
