PM Skerrit appreciates China's significant support to Dominica since past 20 years

Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit addressed the reception organised by the Embassy of the Commonwealth of Dominica in China during which he appreciated the Chinese Government's crucial support towards Dominica during the last 20 years.
He called China a true friend and noted that Dominica will never forget its assistance provided during the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.The reception was hosted on March 26 and was one of the highlights of activities to observe the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China.
While sharing glimpses of the event on his official Facebook account, PM Skerrit stated that it was a lively and celebratory event attended by officials of the Government of the People's Republic of China, members of the Diplomatic Corp and Dominican students studying in China. During his address at the reception held in Beijing, PM Skerrit praised the positive outcomes of cooperation in several fields with China since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 2004.He stressed the significance of the relationship between China and Dominica and said that the country had provided huge help during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as during various natural disasters.
In addition to this, PM Roosevelt Skerrit lauded China's immense contribution to world peace and development and stressed the mutual support and sustained partnership between both countries amid the complex international landscape. He outlined that Dominica holds great importance to building a community with a shared future for humankind with China.

While reiterating his commitment to continue to work on various levels, the Prime Minister said that he is looking forward to advancing transnational global governance towards a more reasonable and equitable course.
Furthermore, the Dominican leader expressed his support for the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Development Initiative as well as Global Civilization Initiative.PM Skerrit said that Dominica would actively participate in executing all these initiatives and recognise the major opportunities delivered to developing nations and their role in achieving sustainable development goals.
Also, the leader praised the advancing infrastructure in China and said that the country is opening up broader potential in trade, tourism, healthcare, climate change, healthcare and various other sectors.
Meanwhile, a Dominican student, Jedidiah Ferrol who helped in hosting the reception also shared the glimpses of the event on his official Facebook account and said, "To say that this was an amazing experience would be an understatement, it was simply surreal. On Tuesday and Wednesday The Commonwealth of Dominica and The People's Republic of China celebrated 20 years of diplomatic relations."He also noted the for the students, embarking on this huge adventure to Beijing was breathtaking and was an experience to remember. Ferrol also thanked the Embassy of Dominica in China for ensuring that the students were completely taken care of during their stay.
