Police arrests two Spanish nationals in possession of ammunition in Freeport, Trinidad

Port-of-Spain: Trinidad and Tobago arrested two Spanish nationals in possession of ammunition in Freeport on Monday. The suspects are currently in police custody and will be presented in court. Authorities stated that the suspects are aged 40 and 41, respectively and were arrested by the Freeport Police Station officers who spotted the two actings suspiciously along Southern Main Road, St. Mary’s, Freeport. After sudden suspicion, policemen stopped the men and searched them, and one of the men was allegedly found with three rounds of ammunition while the other had two rounds. A search warrant was then secured, and police swooped down on the men’s apartment also situated along Southern Main Road, St. Mary’s, Freeport. Police allegedly discovered an additional 25 rounds of 5.56 ammunition. Two men, who were in the apartment at the time, were immediately arrested. They are currently being interrogated by detectives and are expected to be charged by PC Dickson later today. The police are now searching for other connections of these men and is probing if they have been involved him criminal activities across the island. The investigations are undergoing.
