Only three COVID-19 patients left in St Kitts and Nevis

The COIVD-19 situation in the Caribbean island of St Kitts and Nevis has started to improve. Twelve out of the total of fifteen coronavirus patients have now recovered in the country.

Dr Timothy Harris, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis shared this information on his official Facebook handle. He stated that twelve patients have recovered from the virus and the measures being taken by the government are working.

Wendy Phipps, Minister of State with responsibility for Health, stated that health ministry tested over 318 people out of which 302 tested negative.

The small Caribbean island had its first COVID-19 patients in the last week of March. The patients were an elderly woman and a young man who had a travel history to New York, United States of America.

There are now only three COVID-19 patients in St Kitts and Nevis. As per the Prime Minister, Dr Timothy Harris, the government is strictly following the advisories of health officials to stop the contamination of the virus.

St Kitts and Nevis have not recorded any coronavirus related death. As a precautionary measure, the government has imposed a state of emergency for six months.

In the island of Dominica, there are now only two COVID-19 positive patients and zero deaths. However, the government is imposing partial curfews. Besides this, another Caribbean island of Barbados has eighty-two confirmed and seven deaths so far. On the other hand, Jamaica has 473 patients, with nine deaths to date.

The Dominican Republic remains the worse hit Caribbean nation with Coronavirus. The country currently has 8,807 cases and 362 deaths.

The Coronavirus has resulted in the shutdowns of major economies across the globe with countries closing down all businesses by imposing curfews to maintain social-distancing, as it is the only measure to stop the contamination of the virus.
