A St Kitts and Nevis based student has been awarded the prestigious Anthony and Joy Bland Scholarship. ́ , who is studying at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, stated that he is extremely grateful.

́ , the Cayon High School 2016 Valedictorian, was awarded the Anthony and Joy Bland Scholarship at the recent 2nd Virtual and 19th Annual Students' Awards and Recognition Ceremony.

The ceremony, which was held under the theme, 'Partnership and Diligence: Pathway to Success', celebrated the academic and athletic excellence of enrolled students.

́ graduated from Cayon High School in 2016, and every teacher who taught him knew the impact he would make in this world. After high school, Kiandré entered CFBC to study law. At the end of his time there, he was awarded top awards in Literature and Law levels 1 and 2.

Also awarded 2017, Most Remarkable Teen, he worked assiduously and saved as much as he could so that he could afford to attend the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, to continue his dream of becoming a Lawyer. He finally got that opportunity in 2020 and has never looked back.

Kiandré's stated that the scholarship award of $5000 Barbados dollars will assist him tremendously and he is extremely grateful.

At the Virtual ceremony, Deputy Principal, Prof. Winston Moore, explained that being awarded is an excellent representation of the ideal UWI student, who portrays a diligent individual who strives for excellence.

The UWI, Cave Hill, Pro-Vice Principal, Prof. Clive Landis, praised the awardees for excelling in the face of adversity. To add to the ceremony, donor, Collette Delaney, Chief Executive Officer of CIBC, First Caribbean International Bank, who awarded 15 scholarships, urged students to take advantage of every opportunity before them to continue learning and grasp every opportunity to pay it forward.

She encouraged awardees to use the knowledge they have gained, and the experiences gathered to leave the world better than they met it.
