Guinness World Records: Puerto Rican man becomes world's oldest man alive at 113

A past sugar cane farmer in Puerto Rico is confirmed to be the world's oldest man by Guinness World Records; He is just a few weeks away from his 113th birthday. A fomer framer Emilio Flores Márquez was born on August 8, 1908, in Carolina, Puerto Rico,  and this makes him 112 years and 326 days old. He has been announced to be the oldest man in the world by Guinness World Records.

In his growing up years, Márquez, the second oldest of eleven children, was given many household chores and helped take care of his younger siblings.

As he was the eldest son, Márquez helped his father on his father's sugar cane farm --  and all this starting when he was extremely a young boy -- he would g to the farm and would water the plants and also load cut sugar cane into wagons for the transport,  as per a news release from Guinness World Records.

"I was the oldest of the kids, so I did almost everything in the farm as well as in the house," Márquez told Guinness World Records.

He continued farming, "eventually it became the way he supported his family and earned his living," according to Guinness World Records.Márquez got married to Andrea Perez and remained married for  75 years until her death in 2010. The couple has four children. He also has five grandchildren and as well as five great-grandchildren, according to Guinness World Records. He now lives in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, with his two surviving children, Tirsa and "Millito.
