After his departure from FC Barcelona, football player Lionel Messi on Tuesday signed a two-year contract with Paris St-Germain. He also has the option to continue his contract for a third year.

Lionel Messi had only played for Barca for his entire career; he left the football club because they were unable to fetch a new deal under La Liga's financial fair play rules.

After joining Paris St-Germain, Messi said he is curious to start a new chapter of his career in Paris. He said the club and its vision fits best with his ambitions. He also said the staff and players of his new club are extremely hardworking, and he is familiar with all of them.

"I can't wait to get on the Parc des Princes pitch," said Argentinan Footballer.

Paris St-Germain's President Nasser al-Khelaifi is delighted that Lionel Messi has preferred to join Paris St-Germain, and they are pleased to welcome him to Paris with his family.

Known to be one of the biggest footballer of all time, Messi made a record 672 goals in 778 games for Barca, the place he entered as a 13-year-old.

The day Messi left Barca, he addressed the press conference with tears in his eyes and said he is leaving for good. The scene made all football lovers emotional as Messi had close intimacy with the club since it was the only club he ever played for in his career.

He has become the fourth free-transfer signing PSG this summer after the additions of Spain defender Sergio Ramos, Netherlands midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Messi will be wearing number 30 T-shirt at PSG and will play alongside

the two most expensive players of all time - Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
