St Lucia: The Government of St Lucia on Wednesday announced the launch of $10 million National Housing Assistance Programme NHAP being funded by the Republic of China (Taiwan).
The aim of this programme is to elevate the standard of living of the underprivileged with the improvement of their living conditions in St Lucia. Prime Minister Philip J Pierre announced during the ceremony that it is the programme which was promised by the St Lucia Labour Party during elections with the agenda of ‘Putting People First’.Prime Minister further added that putting people first is not only a slogan but “it is a philosophy; it is a way of life”. Emphasising on it, PM Pierre said that the did not make promises to win the elections, they mean it and in every project of the government ethos and the philosophy of putting people first will be clear.
Pierre also added that elections are now over and the government is now making all its efforts to keep up with their promises made during elections period. He also urged upon people to join, not the ruling party, but under the same roof to help doing better for people of St Lucia.Minister for External Affairs, International Trade, Civil Aviation and Diaspora Affairs, Alva Baptiste said, “I was indeed pleased this week to attend the official launch of the $10 million National Housing Assistance Programme funded by the Republic of China (Taiwan).”
“This programme will be implemented by the Department of Housing and Local Government to assist low - income and vulnerable households, by improving their living conditions.”The Government of Saint Lucia remains committed to working with our diplomatic allies towards improving the quality of life of all Saint Lucians, he added.
