A dangerous criminal escapes from police custody in St Lucia

A Jamaican national being referred to as 'Dangerous' by St Lucia police is on the run after escaping from Babonneau police station. The perpetrator is identified as Orville Pernelle.
Superintendent of police with responsibility for Crime Management, Gorge Nicholas, revealed the identity of the criminal and referred to him as 'dangerous'.
The criminal escaped from police custody ahead of his court hearing related to a murder case. According to police officials, the Jamaican national escaped on Monday between 3 am to 5 am and nobody from the personnel was injured.
"As we talk, there is a manhunt in connection to the suspect, and we are tracking him," Gorge Nicholas.
The escapee Orville Pernelle was charged for causing the killing of Cletus Alfred of Ravine Macock, Gros Islet, in August this year stated the Superintendent of Police.
Alfred's body was found in a pool of blood on the way at Trouya after nearby inhabitants reported catching the sounds of gunshots.
Furthermore, Superintendent of Police Gorge Nicholas, stated that the escapee found a court hearing in conjunction with the killing and was remanded in confinement until November 11, 2020.
He added that the prisoner was in a cell with four other inmates and was able to saw the bars of the cell and forced his way out of the cell.
Superintendent of Police stated that it is unclear about what device was used by the escapee to make his way out of the cell and senior officials are conducting an internal investigation into this matter.
Nicholas requested to persons with knowledge about the whereabouts of the escaped Jamaican national to contact the nearest police station
