The official calendar of events for the 38th anniversary of St. Kitts and Nevis are finalized and will include a series of activities that reflect the new normal due to COVID-19. The country will celebrate their independence on 19 September 2021.
According to the COVID-19 protocols, this year's independence events will be amended to limit health risks for persons. Some events will not be held, while others will be scaled back. Several events are still on the list, including the National Heroes Day Observation, celebrated every year on September 16 and is a memorial event where the National Heroes of St. Kitts and Nevis are honoured for their pioneering spirit and enormous contribution to nation-building.The Civil Service of Independence and the Prime Minister's Independence Lecture are also major events. However, in a COVID-19 environment, the government could make some changes.
The committee stated that the theme for this year's celebrations would be declared after the Ministry of Education submits a shortlist to Cabinet for final approval.
