Expo 2020 Dubai: PM Timothy Harris says St Kitts and Nevis is open for business
The National Day of St Kitts & Nevis was celebrated at the Expo 2020 Dubai on Tuesday where PM Dr Timothy Harris addressed the public at the Al Wasl Plaza.

The National Day of St Kitts and Nevis was celebrated at the Expo 2020 Dubai on Tuesday. Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris addressed the public at the Al Wasl Plaza and led a high-level delegation. He said St Kitts and Nevis have now reopened for business.
The high-level delegation from St Kitts and Nevis included Eugene Hamilton- Minister of Social Development and Gender Affairs, Ambassador Ian MacDonald Liburd- the Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Gurdip Dev Bath- Special Representative of St Kitts and Nevis.

His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayacelebraten- Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner General of EXPO 2020 also attended the National Day Event of St Kitts and Nevis at the Expo.
Furthermore, he also commended the Government of the United Arab Emirates for its visionary and progressive leadership. PM said the UAE gave Small Island Developing States like St Kitts and Nevis a global opportunity to represent their history, cultural heritage, technological advancement, and opportunities for development and investment in key sectors. " Speaking about St Kitts and Nevis, PM said, "We are a small nation with big ambitions". He said the country is moving towards sustainability and is also working towards reducing the dependency on fossil fuels by reorienting policies, investments, and legislative focus on wind, solar and geothermal energy. He said St Kitts and Nevis is also developing one of the largest solar farms in the Caribbean and welcomes partnership in the endeavours. Prime Minister invited potential investors to come to St Kitts and Nevis by developing and expanding the country's offerings, "We intend to introduce state-of-the-art tools and first-class service to transform our national healthcare system to serve our people and visitors to our twin islands of St Kitts and Nevis."

Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris thanked the United Arab Emirates for their invaluable support in facilitating St Kitts and Nevis' participation in EXPO 2020. "I am heartened by the fact that the United Arab Emirates has long been a friend to St Kitts and Nevis, and I look forward to working to strengthen the solid bonds of friendship and cooperation that join our countries, advance our common interests and facilitate collaboration," stated Prime Minister Harris. PM Harris also congratulated the UAE for the successful conduct and outstanding achievements of EXPO 2020. Prime Minister Timothy Harris also stated that partners like the Republic of China (Taiwan), the UAE, has been a sterling partner of St Kitts and Nevis. He said the partnership has spanned the 38 years of country's existence as an independent nation. He also acknowledged the support of several countries, like India, the United States, and sister countries of CARICOM during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that St Kitts and Nevis has reopened for business. "The pandemic forced us to close our borders, but we are now open and ready to continue to fulfil our commitment to diversify our economy across multiple sectors such as agriculture, technology, trade, creative arts, and tourism." "Our eco-friendly tourism sector is one that allows you to enjoy nature, our superb hospitality, and an authentic twin-island paradise experience." PM Harris further added. He said St Kitts and Nevis is a twin-island nation, but it is one paradise that has a range of boutique hotels as well as internationally renowned luxury brands like the Four Seasons Resort Nevis; the Park Hyatt St Kitts and Belmont Farm, a one-of-a-kind farm-to-table concept hotel.
