Employment rate in Nevis grew by 2.9% in 2022, Mark Brantley shares report

Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley stated that the employment rate is growing on the island as there are now more people with jobs than before. He said Nevis is gradually recovering from the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The official data from Social Security up to March 2022 shows that the number of employees in Nevis grew by 2.9%, and the number of jobs grew by 4.9%. Premier Brantley stated that during the same period, gross wages grew by a significant 7.3% and wages per employee grew by 4.3%, while wages per job grew by 2.4%.

"Excellent news on the job front for Nevis. As we recover from the Covid19 pandemic, we are seeing some job growth on Nevis, which is encouraging," said Brantley.

He said Social Security does not account for all jobs as many self-employed and others working in undeclared jobs are not captured, and the actual numbers could be much higher.

Brantley also shared a full report on his social media account, which showed the progress in terms of the employment rate in Nevis.

Furthermore, lauding his administration, Brantley stated that Nevis is moving ahead in the right direction. He also asked people to increase the momentum as the general elections are approaching.
