Dominica records 101 new COVID-19 infections, 8666 recoveries
Dr Shalauddin Ahmed- National Epidemiologist of Dominica, stated that the country recorded 101 new cases as of 3 February 2022.

He said the number of infections increased in December 2021, and on average, the country is recorded around 96 cases daily. The highest number of cases were registered on 31 January 2022, with around 200 people testing positive, the majority of them having mild to moderate symptoms. National epidemiologists said most of the cases are coming from 18 to 39, and the majority of hospitalizations are also in the age group of 18 to 59. "This is all through from August 2021 to February 2022; the 18 to 39 age group is consistent all through the period," said Dr Ahmed. He said the proposition of 12 years to 17 years age group testing coronavirus positive decreased from September 2021 onwards. Besides this, Dr Ahmed said 70 percent of the positive patients are experiencing mild to moderate symptoms, while 15 percent are severe and around 5% critical.
