St Kitts & Nevis: 26 Police Recruits Graduate in the presence of govt officials

St Kitts and Nevis: Twenty-six candidates consisting of sixteen women and ten men successfully graduated from an intense six months of police training initiated in July 2023.

The ceremony, hosted on the 13^th of February 2024, was attended by Dame Marcella Liburd, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, Speaker of the National Assembly Lanien Blanchette, Justice Patrick Thompson, Deputy Prime Minister Geoffrey Hanley alongside other members of the federal cabinet. The ceremony was meant to acknowledge all the “hard work, sacrifices and patriotic intentions of the new recruits” that were willing and able to undergo such vigorous training offered in course 46.

The honourable recruits participated in a special drill to demonstrate their discipline and coordination for all the officials to marvel at.

The Prime Minister then addressed the podium and expressed his gratitude to the new recruits, while elaborating on why such discipline and practice is necessary, now more than ever to his sovereign nation.

The ceremony was wrapped up with a presentation of awards handed out by Dr Lional Rawlins, the security advisor to the government of St Kitts and Nevis.

One of the most notable moments from the ceremony was when fresh graduate constable Wallace gave the vote of thanks on behalf of his batch members.

Opening his statement by saying “we are the survivors, we finally made it. Looking back at July… six months seems like an eternity but here we are” he also shared anecdotes about the rigorous training exercises they underwent, stating that there were nights where the whole squad weren’t permitted to sleep because they had tasks to carry out every hour.
