One day after it was disclosed that Commissioner of Police, Ian Queeley has been sent on an extended 11-month leave, another member of the High Command has also had his leave extended for a second time.
Assistant Commissioner of Police with Responsibility for the Operations Directorate, Terrance James whose leave was extended in October last year, was expected to return to duty in December but according to a reliable source, Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris has given a directive that further leave be given.
Commissioner Queeley went on vacation on October 1, 2018 and was scheduled to return to office on November 3, 2018, but the Human Resource Department in the Office of Prime Minister hastily despatched a letter to Queeley extending his vacation to January 15, 2019.
Last week Commissioner Queeley received a letter informing him that he is to continue on further leave until November 2019.
The sending of Commissioner Queeley and ACP James on vacation last year is seen in many circles as part of a wider diabolical plan by Prime Minister Harris.
Last October, several officers within the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force expressed concern over the growing politicisation of the law enforcement body amidst fears of a creeping element synonymous of Grenada's Mongoose Gang.
According to multiple sources, the clandestine move by Dr. Harris is part of his preparation for the upcoming general elections and is aimed at muzzling and harassing the opposition parties and persons who are critical of his Team Unity Government.
