Public holiday announced for St Kitts and Nevis
Last lap of Carnival to be marked

The Governer-General of St Kitts and Nevis has declared 2 January a public holiday.
The decision, announced just before Christmas but shared with the media yesterday, was made to mark the last lap of Carnival.
In his official proclamation, Governor-General Sir Tapley Seaton said he was acting on the advice of the St Kitts and Nevis cabinet.
A public holiday was recently observed on Nevis.
The island saw 19 December designated a public holiday after the Nevis Island Assembly elections of the previous day.The vote saw the sitting Concerned Citizens Movement reelected.
