Cuba appoints David Rivero Perez as new ambassador to St Kitts and Nevis
Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Timothy Harris accepted the credentials of Cuba's new resident ambassador David Rivero Perez.

While addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris congratulated ambassador David Rivero Perez and stated that St Kitts and Nevis shares strong ties with the Republic of Cuba.
He said many youngsters of St Kitts and Nevis go to Cuba to pursue higher education in various fields.
"They return home with a love for your nation, an awareness for its capability and enormous potential, and they also return home as unofficial ambassadors of your country because they can speak about it, advocate it, and defend it, and the number has climbed into the hundreds over the years," said the Prime Minister.In terms of the future, Prime Minister Harris said the government of St Kitts and Nevis is appreciative of the educational possibilities provided to its inhabitants and residents. But he also called for newer scholarships in areas of specialisation.
"In general medicine, we want to identify areas where we have a high need so that our people may come in as specialists and contribute more," said the Prime Minister.
Ambassador Perez said he determined to work closely with the government of St Kitts and Nevis to strengthen the bilateral relationship."We share a common interest in climate change and natural disasters. We must continue to collaborate in regional integration, as we have done in the past," said the ambassador.
He also thanked St Kitts and Nevis for their continued support in Cuba's battle against the US-led embargoes.
Ambassador Rivero had submitted his credentials to the Governor-General, Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton, on January 12, 2022, prior to meeting with the prime minister.
